Charakteristics and specialization of our school
Our school is located in a nice, quiet suburb of Kladno and it is a "family type" of school. Since January 1st 1995 it has become an independent legal entity. Since January 1st 2003 a day nursery has become a part of this organization. Nowadays our school has 14 classes attended by 295 pupils. Sixty pupils go to after school club and more than 200 pupils do different interest groups.
Since September 2001 we have had specialized classes for children with speech defects - e.g. dyslalia, dysartia, dysphasia. Teachers in those classes have passed state exams of logopedies and they are in close contact with PPP Kladno, SPC Floriánek and logopedicians, knowing the children since their pre-school period. During school year they are in contact with the Special primary school in Prague - Čimice.
English and German are taught from the fourth class. From the first to third classes children have private lessons of elementary English. From the age of 11 pupils have conversation lessons and they have an option of another language from the seventh class. Our pupils regularly go on educational trips to Britain.
From the age of 6 pupils can attend IT classes in their free time. It is a compulsory subject in the seventh and eighth class, optional in the ninth one. On-line course and the Internet are used for practising foreign languages, the Czech language, Biology and other subjects.
There are 24 interest groups in our school, most of them led by teachers. The most popular are IT and the Internet groups.
Every year we go to Prague theatres to see performances within "The Club of Young Theatre-goers" The range of dramas is very wide and children can get to know main theatres in Prague.
There is Children´s council in our school which consists of pupils from the fourth to the ninth classes. They can voice their concerns and convey opinions of their fellow pupils to their teachers and the headteacher of the school. Their comments and observations help to create a kind of school pupils enjoy going to.
Since January 1st 1996 there is a registered Parent-Teacher association. The representatives of each class meet four times a year. This association sponsors rewards for children at skiing trips or open-air school, School helpline and the end of school year. New teaching aids are bought from funds raised by Parent-Teacher association.
